FAQ
Do I have to have a Yahoo! account to sign up for Flickr?
Yes. When you sign up for a new Flickr account, you'll need to sign in with your Yahoo! ID. If you don't have a Yahoo! account, you can create a new one by clicking the "Sign Up" link Yahoo! sign in page.

What you get with a Free Account:
* 100 MB monthly photo upload limit (10MB per photo)
* 2 video uploads each month (90 seconds max, 150MB per video)
* Photostream views limited to the 200 most recent images
* Post any of your photos in up to 10 group pools
* Only smaller (resized) images accessible (though the originals are saved in case you upgrade later)

Tips & Tricks
With the free account resize photos to be more "web-friendly." (like 300KB instead of 5MB)

You can't recover any of your monthly allowance by deleting photos. If you have a free account, you'll see your limit on the upload page.

If you have fewer than 200 photos, we display them all. If you have more than 200 photos, only the most recent 200 are displayed.

How do I get started ordering prints?
Step 1 If you have a credit card billing address in the U.S., you can buy prints via the Flickr website. You'll see an "Order Prints" option on any photo you have permission to print, and also an option to print a whole set at a time (if you have permission).

How can I get photos delivered?
We provide two options: Pick up at a Target store or delivery by mail. Part of the ordering process is choosing the method you want to use. Mail delivery is a bit cheaper, if you can stand the wait!

Creating a Sacred Space

"Your sacred space is where you can find yourself again and again."
"Sacred Spaces evoke a feeling of a sacredness of space and time, where Heaven seems to touch Earth and we find ourselves aware.... A higher energy resides in a sacred space, a power beyond human control which is part of the feeling of "awe". To find ourselves in the midst of great beauty is an awakening into moments of heightened spiritual consciousness..."
I am working with my florist to rent this awesome pergola for the wedding ceremony. It is an idea I have been in love with since the beginning of the planning process. I really wanted to have a special structure for the rituals of the ceremony. I want to create a "sacred space."

The florist is going to decorate the pergola with crystals and green orchid blossoms to create a dramatic and sparkly sacred space.

The philosopher Mircea Eliade said, "A manifestation of the sacred is always a revelation of being." Designing sacred space involves creating opportunities in our environment to pause and reflect on our lives in the context of something greater than ourselves be it family, community, nature or even our connection to the universe.

This particular pergola is round and has large round colomuns. I like the symbolism of the circles and the majesty of the dome top. I had orginally hoped we would purchase the pergola instead of renting it but we just couldn't make it work out this year. Maybe it will still be at the shop on our anniversary and we can keep our sacred space forever....

The shapes of the rooms and other objects that have personal meaning for us brings a sense of the sacred. The circle is a universal symbol of unity and wholeness and has been representative of heaven and the universe. The circle is therefore an important image of the sacred which resonates with us on a very deep level. Most of us spend all our time living and working in square spaces. The square is symbolic of the physical/ material world. Designs that allow some time outside of our traditional square spaces could be good for the soul.

Sneak peak--wedding party

My lovely wedding party! They have been so wonderful helping us with wedding.

Did you ever wonder where the bridesmaid & groomsmen traditions came from?

This tradition dates back to ancient Roman times. Several women were asked to dress similar to the bride in order to confuse any evil spirits that may attempt to kidnap the bride. Nowadays, the bridesmaids may dress differently from the bride, but they wear similar dresses to each other for good luck.

It is believed that the tradition of having a best man comes
from Germanic Goths in about 200BC. At this time we are lead to believe there was a shortage of women and so, to claim a bride for yourself, it might come to the point of stealing one you fancy.

This is where the best man, we would assume the groom's best friend or brother, came in. The groom's best man would provide assistance to the groom in the stealing of the bride and be there during the ceremony to fight of her family and friends if they objected. In Anglo-Saxon England the best man would be at the grooms side to provide protection form anyone trying to interfere with the wedding. This leads to the other tradition of the woman standing to the left of the man, so the presumed right handed groom and best man could keep their hand on their sword, just in case!

Sneak Peak--Bridal Jewelry

It is gold & sparkly & vintage! It has a lovely design and unusual mesh texture in the collar. And holy cow matches my amazing shoes perfectly!

When I was in high school I was obsessed with vintage jewelry. Mom and I amassed quite a collection over those years. I have many found memories of us treasure hunting at flea markets and antique stores looking for the "next great piece." All the dances and events were marked by the totally awesome necklaces we found together! I haven't bought vintage jewelry in many years but I couldn't help but to go back to my fashion roots for this special event.

Marriage..."what do people say?"

"Marriage will expand you as individuals, define you as a couple, and deepen your love for one another

To be successful you will need strength, courage, patience and a really good sense of humor.

"So let your marriage be a time of waking each morning and falling in love with one another all over again."
What a beautiful ideal! I hope Jeff and I can cultivate such incredible state of wedded bliss. We consciously work at maintaining a healthy and happy relationship. I have so much more confidence going into our marriage knowing we already had successful experiences being partners in life. I do hope this ceremony will mark a new aspiration in us to perfect our relationship into a beautiful marriage in which you fall in love with each other over and over again.

Bachelorette Party pics! A wild night on the town!

We are the luckiest people in the world and have some of the greatest friends over known to man kind! My lovely girl friends threw me a "Blade Runner" themed party! You remember Blade Runner....the Ridley Scott film with Harrison Ford & Daryl Hannah. It was great fun to get all costumed up at Kristina's super swank downtown condo.

Custom apparel-Wedding dress

Like most brides, I was very excited to find the perfect wedding dress. And like most brides, I obsessed over finding the dress that was a perfect expression of "me" or really "red carpet celebrity" version of me.

But going to the bridal salons, I feel like a star shape peg trying to fit into a square hole.
I rebel against the square hole with a unique flair and it seemed impossible to find the dress that represented my style. I was desperately trying to find a wedding dress was both beautiful and unusual.

Then wedding fate struck during a visit form Emily Horton. Emily, Jeff, & I were friends during college where Emily studied theater costume design. After a successful career on the theater circuit, Emily had moved back to Portland to launch her own clothing designs & sewing business. Thank the wedding gods that Emily took me on as her client and I am going to have a "one-of-a-kind designed for just for me" wedding gown!

It has been an amazing creative process! And the dress has turned out beyond my dreams!
Here are a few samples of inspiration pictures I sent Emily to help shape the dress design.

Custom apparel-Synthi Ties

Here is a sneak peak of the groom's party ties. They are so techno! Custom silk screened by a Detroit artist, the Synthi design has special meaning for Jeff and represents his passion for audio gear and fat beats. Not to mention the black and silver color combo should look super fab with my dress!

I love all of Bethany's designs and it felt like "wedding fate" when I discovered her store. She is a designer on her way to big things! A couple weeks ago she was even featured in the Sunday NY Times.

Check out some more the cool designs!

Venue: It’s a beautiful night for a moon dance!

8:30 sunset should be just in time for the toasts! The first dance should be about 9:00. It should be a beautiful night for a moon dance with the dance floor out underneath the city skyline and the northwest moon.

Wedding Production weekend

The wedding is so close! Down the final stretch of planning the final details. I have a complicated web of spreadsheets to consult, flowers to finalize, grooms shirts to find, lighting for the tent & dance floor to figure out...ooowww.... the list is long. Jeff said its time to work on the wedding for 12 hours straight. WOW! No joke.

From the collection of love notes from Jeff

"Also, I saw a dress in a storefront in Belltown on First Ave that just screamed you. Sexy little black number. I'll have to take you to try it on.

Love you and can't stop thinking about you. Good luck today!"

Flash Back to the year 2000

I Love RSVP cards!

I never realized how much fun it is to get daily gobs of cards in the mail! The RSVP cards are already flowing in and Jeff & I race to the mail box after work to check out the new arrivals. Thanks so much for all your responses!

If you have not sent your RSVP card back to me yet you should decorate your return envelope with doodles or stickers. That would be the best mail day ever!

Wedding Rituals-The Processional

Outwardly you walk down the isle with family and friends looking on, a passage of only a few minutes. But inwardly you are undertaking a much longer journey, enacting a transition from one way of life to another.

By the time you take your place, you will feel as if you have taken a very long journey. You have walked through the entire length of your relationship, from courtship to the commitment that has brought you to this moment.

My wedding paper doll obsession

Planning and designing the wedding celebration has been an incredible experience for me. It turns out that I really like daydreaming about a lot things that weddings entail like high fashion dresses, sparkling details, exotic flowers, flaming candles, yummy cocktails, and kissing my man dolled up in a suit.

Early in the engagement I became obsessed with paging through wedding magazines dog-earring everything from gowns to dance flower lighting. But the details seemed so trapped on the one-dimensional page and I began cutting them out of magazines and mounting each wedding treasure on crafting foam. I them layered them to huge photos of the venue so I could accurately evaluate how each theme and detail could fit together. I then mounted the all the panels onto the walls creating a "rainbow wedding collage mural" across the house! There are so many beautiful and romantic themes and designs out there and it is incredibly hard to commit to just one design that will represent this incredible experience!

Maybe you will recognize some of the "paper doll mural inspiration" in the final design of the wedding!

Jeff's engagement story

The journey to my marriage proposal to Sarah was a long one, but we finally got there. It began with one leap of faith after college to leave St. Louis and move to Seattle without ever seeing the city before. After this we spent many years figuring ourselves out, figuring out our career paths, and supporting one another through many challenges. While our relationship was typically strong and we always considered ourselves a small family complete with two dogs, the challenge of living in an expensive city far away from our family and friends was overwhelming at times. Eventually we began finding our way and we felt like we were at home here. While we were committed to each other all along, several years later I finally realized it was time to make that commitment permanent.

I began to secretly start shopping for engagement rings, trying my hardest for Sarah not to know what was going on. It was a bit of a nerve-racking experience going into the ring store at first, not really knowing what to do. But my nervous feelings quickly changed to excitement. After picking out the ring, I told Sarah that we needed a real vacation.

After some research I told her that we should take a beach vacation in Laguna Beach, CA in March of 2007. I kept wondering if Sarah knew what was going on. I think she had a hope that this would be when we would get engaged, but I wasn't quite sure. Picking up the ring, hiding it a few days in the house, and then hiding in my carry-on at the airport was another nerve-racking experience. I still wasn't quite sure what I was going to say or where exactly I was going to do this. And then I kept thinking she would discover the ring accidentally before I proposed.

After we arrived we spent a day hanging out in our beautiful room overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Being a bit of an obsessive compulsive person I had to keep secretly checking on the ring, making sure I didn't lose it, and making sure she didn't discover it. It was an interesting feeling trying to hang on to this secret for several days. I just kept wanting to tell her what was up my sleeve, but luckily I was able to keep it to myself. I managed to scope out a really cool rock formation with a natural archway in a secluded area a hundred yards down the beach or so. Finally, on the second night in California we went out to eat, and afterwards I told her we should grab a bottle of wine and a blanket and take a walk on the beach. I pointed out the rock formation and we walked down to it and through the archway, which I suddenly realized was a metaphor for what was about to happen. Just beyond the archway we laid out our blanket and made a toast.

I remember she had a sparkly “Sarah-style” beach dress on. I told her I had a question for her. At that point I knelt down on one knee and asked her to marry me. She was shaking with so much excitement. And thankfully, the girl that I fell so deeply in love with so many years prior back in St. Louis said “Yes!”...
